The other night, I had a hankering for a pie. Well, I think it could have been a cake but, this pie was so easy that….the pie won out. My cousin (in-law) used to always make creamy Buttermilk Pies at Christmas time and they were such a hit with everyone. I went through everything looking for that recipe and after being unsuccessful, I finally settled on one I printed off in 2009 from Cook.com. Oh, my, my! Oh, heck yes! Honey put on your party dress!
I think you will love it.
Grandma’s Buttermilk Pie
3 eggs
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 tbsp flour
1 stick butter
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/8 cup buttermilk
1 deep dish pie crust
Beat eggs; add sugar, flour, butter, vanilla, and salt. Mix thoroughly. Blend in buttermilk. Pour in pie crust. Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes until it is golden brown and firm.
This is my recipe for Tuesday’s Tasty Tidbits. I am still guest blogging with Dian over at Grocery Shop for Free. Thank you, Dian! Check out her blog for some great coupon deals.
I invite you to join in the blog party by adding a link to your recipe post. Here are some rules:
1. Please link back to us on your blog!
2. Please link to your recipe and not your homepage.
3. Besides recipes, you may add posts that talk about food subjects, food giveaways, cookbook reviews and/or giveaways….maybe even church cook or soup cook stories. Be creative.
4. You may enter as many posts as you like.
5. Try to visit at least 4 other posts in the blog party.
Last week, there was a lot of blog hopping going on from here. The most visited entry was to www.thehungrysomebody.wordpress.com for her Panzenella Salad with Grilled Peppers.
A close second was to www.theladybehindthecurtain.com for her Cheesecake in a Jar. Yum!!!!

This looks scrumptious – everything that Grandma’s make always are!
I’ve never had a buttermilk pie!! How is that possible?? We LOVE pies in my family. I thought at first it was going to be a similar recipe to my Gram’s custard pie, but it’s not! It sounds AMAZING! I’m definitely adding this to my “Make For Fall” list! Can’t wait to try it! I linked up my cocoa pancakes, I hope you’ll swing by to check them out. Thanks for hosting! Have a great weekend! -Mandi

Yum! Very similar to a chess pie (when it’s not made with evaporated milk). I’ve been wanting to try old fashioned pies–thanks for sharing!
Yummy, I am drooling. Our dinner is in the oven, and it can’t be done quick enough now. Thank you for sharing at Bacon Time
