I don’t have a child at home because mine are grown and I have to say that most of our Halloweens were spent at Western Night at the church…..or Harvest Festival….or whatever. But, I thought I would share my son and daughter-in-law’s costumes this year.
We are huge Survivor fans….the whole family. Back before we all had DVRs, we were sure to either get a phone call at commercial or make a phone call to one of the kids to discuss strategies of all the players. Survivor has provided us with hours of fun and we always called Thursdays…..Survivor Thursday. Now it has moved to Wednesdays and I am guessing that puts it one step closer to ending for good.
Once, my husband called home on a Monday to ask me if I knew what Thursday was. Well, two things were happening on Thursday and one was the Winter seasoning opening of Survivor. So I yelled…..SURVIVOR THURSDAY!!!!!! Well, the second was the anniversary of our first date back in 1976. That is what my husband was referring to…..romantic fool that he is.
Last year, this is what my son looked like on Halloween
It was rather nightmarish for me and his wife. Looking for bombs instead of asking for candy are two completely different experiences. They weren’t really playing dress-up either, if you know what I mean.
But this year, he is home with his wife (Thank the Lord) and he and his wife dressed up like Survivors….on the winning tribe, I am sure.
Is it just me or does this have a meaning greater than just a costume and fun?
